Assessment Requirements
In this assignment, students are required to reflect on their learning from one of the sessions they participated in during the module, using the DIEP Reflective Model (Boud et al., 1985). The model has four distinct stages:
- D – Describe Objectively:
Students need to provide a clear and objective description of the session. This includes detailing what they did, read, saw, and heard during the session. For example, if the session involved a workshop, students should explain the activities involved, key moments, and the content discussed. - I – Interpret the Events:
In this stage, students are required to interpret what they learned from the experience. This could include making new connections, reflecting on their feelings, and exploring any hypotheses or conclusions they may have formed. This part answers questions such as: Why did I participate in this activity? and What does it mean for my learning? - E – Evaluate the Learning:
This part of the assignment involves evaluating the usefulness of the session. Students should reflect on how the experience helped them grow academically and personally. The main questions to answer include: How was this useful? and What did I learn that I can apply in my future career? - P – Plan for Application:
Finally, students need to plan how they will apply their learning in the future. This could involve discussing its relevance to their course, their career goals, or their personal development. This part answers the question: How will this learning apply to my future profession or personal life?

Students can choose to focus their reflection on one of the following sessions:
- Reflective Writing Session
- Personal Development Plan (including identifying strengths and weaknesses)
- Researching a potential career and delivering a presentation on it
- Commercial Awareness
- Creative Thinking and Problem Solving
- The Importance of Work Experience and Where to Find It
- Teamwork and Collaboration
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
Assessment Criteria
The assignment will be graded based on the following criteria:
- 15%: Clarity of objectives and focus of work
- 10%: Clarity of expression (accuracy, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and numeracy)
- 20%: Knowledge and application of relevant theories
- 35%: Presentation skills (oral communication)
- 20%: Quality of sources used
